I have to start by saying this exhibit took my breath away. Every turn, every glance, and every step I took was pure enchantment. I have been wanting to go see the Heavenly Bodies exhibit ever since the night of the 2018 MET gala. That night had some fire ensembles and I had to see if the exhibit served looks like the stars did. Finally one day very recently I decided to go, what I saw I will simply never forget. The exhibit is basically fashions interpretation of Catholicism. Throughout history, Catholicism has created insanely amazing art, so I am not surprised that the HeavenlyBodies exhibit is such a success. 55 designers participated in creating this exhibit, which is the largest ever offered by the MET’s costume institute. Over 150 ensembles were put on display by Versace, Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino, Dolce and Gabbana, Jean Paul Gaultier, Azzedine Alaïa, Balenciaga, and many more. All the designers that participated in bringing this dazzling exhibit to life are or were Catholic. Which in my opinion is very important because it gives them a point of view. The man who made this all possible Andrew Bolton was also able to get vestments on loan from the Vatican, some of which had never left Rome. That is just the most amazing part of the exhibit in my opinion. The new and the old come together to give a unique and never before seen perspective on Catholicism. Each designer had a very different interpretation of what the Catholic religion meant to them but every design still managed to be very cohesive. I don’t want to give too much away because it definitely is something everyone should experience for themselves. I’ll add my snapchat story below where you can see all my favorite looks because they are so incredibly fierce. If you are looking to go to this exhibit it is at the MET 5th ave, Anna Wintour Center, and also the MET cloisters located in upper Manhattan. I strongly encourage you to go because your wig will be SNATCHED! I am honestly still shook and I will for sure be going again sometime soon.

You’re welcome and love always,

Dayton Sims for NYCHIC ❤
